How to Measure Window Blinds for Bay Windows

When measuring window blinds for bay windows, you will need to calculate the intersecting points of the blinds to determine the width of each blind. The first step is to select a slat size. Once you have selected the blinds, you will be able to get the depth you need to calculate the intersection point.

On bay window blinds, there will be a slight gap where the window treatments meet. Even with the most precise measurements, there will be light and privacy gaps. Follow these easy steps to measure your blinds:

Bay Window Blinds

  1. Cut two pieces of cardboard at the thickness of slat and approximately 30cm long.
  2. Position the pieces of cardboard so the front edges meet as if they are the actual window blinds at each intersection point(See image).
  3. Make a small mark on the front edge where they intersect. Repeat the step for both blind intersection points.
  4. The next step is to measure each side window blinds. The left blind measurement will be from the intersection point we marked to the window frame. Make sure that your measurement is an equal distance away from the window as the intersection point. Follow the same step for the right blind using the right intersection point. Deduct 1cm from both of these blinds for clearance.
  5. Measure the center bay blind by measuring the distance from each intersection point.
